Semi & Full Hollow Guitars / Old Guy Needing Info on AK95
« Last post by jrhayter on January 20, 2012, 01:02:10 PM »
I have been a collector of vintage Ibby's for more years than I would like to admit and now I am tempted to try a 2009 AK95.  I would really like to start out with a Custom AK125 but have not seen to many of these for sale.

I am attaching a couple of pics the guy is asking $325.00 with case and LNIB condition.  Since these were made in China I was just wondering about the workmanship and part quality. I am open to buying and Ibanez made in China since it wasn't so long ago people ragged on the made in Japan label!  :P

I HAVE POSSIBLY A MONDAY MORNING ONE. NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THE GUITAR, SUPPLIER & UK DISTRIBUTER.
NICE LOOKING GUITAR. WAS TAKEN BACK TO VILLAGE MUSIC EAST KILBRIDE 3 TIMES WHERE I PURCHASED IT & SENT BACK TO THE UK DISTRIBUTER. WHEN IT CAME BACK THE CASE WAS DAMAGED. IT TOOK MONTHS TO HAVE IT REPLACED AND TWICE THEY SENT THE WRONG CASE. THE RESPONSE FROM BOTH WAS TOUGH. I EVENTUALLY STRIPPED THE INSTRUMENT IN FRUSTRATION MYSELF. I HAD TO TIGHTEN THE MACHINE HEADS, POT NUTS, SET THE TRUSS ROD AND MOST IMPORTANTLY REPLACE THE BRIDGE BEFORE I COULD GET IT WORKING SATISFACTORILY. OBVIOUSLY THE SO CALLED PROFESIONALS HAD NO IDEA OR MADE NO DECENT ATTEMPT TO FIX IT.
I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THEY NO LONGER MANUFACTURE THIS GUITAR MAYBE THIS IS WHY.
THIS IS ONE OF MANY GUITARS THAT I OWN. ONLY BAD EXPERIENCE.

Electronics & Accessories / SRTn Onboard Tuner Very Weak
« Last post by jimbohall on May 24, 2009, 11:09:38 AM »
I have a cedar top Artwood AW35 with licensed B-Band Preamp With Notch Filter and On-board Tuner. The tuner has never worked well compared to my older AE series with the licensed Fishman setup. I suspect the battery tray is the problem. It has a very cheesy slide-out for two AA batteries and the metal link that connect + to - does not make good reliable contact. I can push the batteries forward and backward and see the contact breaks. In my opinion, this is a defect. I could probably shim in some aluminum foil but that seems funky. Any other folks experience the same problem? I want my tuner to really work!
